Miami Marlins

Future of the Franchise

Javier Baez

While Baez doesn't have an official nickname yet, one could propose "Mr. Adjustment." Baez has been heralded as one of the great prospects, and yet, he has made significant adjustments throughout his time in the minors.

He's made swing changes, his leg kick has been shortened, he's made adjustments at the plate and how he sees pitches, he's lost 25 pounds, and has worked hard at how he is positioned in the field.

He's had to adjust to a Spring Training invite in 2014, an assignment to AAA, poor hitting at AAA, some success at AAA, a promotion to the MLB, struggle hitting in the MLB, and another spring invite in 2015.

The guy is a gamer, and will do anything and everything that he can to be the best hitter in the game. If he can make adjustments, stop chasing pitches, and make some contact, crazy numbers could follow.

Team MVP

Joe Mauer

In a three year period between 2008-2010, Mauer won an MVP, three Gold Gloves, three Silver Sluggers, and three straight All-Star appearances. In 2012 and 2013, he began a minor renaissance with two more All-Star appearances.

And while most of his counting stats have been on the decline, he still offers stability and production for the coming years. In 2014, Mauer was only 31 years old, so there is still plenty of time for another renaissance from the once mighty Mauer Power.
