Future of the Franchise

Andrew Heaney

Heaney was born on June 5, 1991, majored in PE at OSU, has two sisters, and likes to golf and go to the movies. His favorite team is the Oklahoma City Thunder and his favorite player is Kevin Durant. In college, he had aspirations to play professional baseball. Andrew Heaney, this is your life.....

In 2009, Tampa Bay selected Andrew in the 24th round, however he declined the offer. Instead, Andrew was a first round draft pick in 2012 by Miami and made his MLB debut in 2014. Entering the 2013 season, he was ranked as the 5th best prospect in the Miami organization. Heading into the 2014 season, he was said to have the best slider in the Miami organization and was their number 1 left-handed prospect.

Over the 2014 off season, Heaney was traded from Miami to LA and now to Minnesota, where he will try and anchor the staff in the coming years.

Team MVP

Adam Jones

Growing up, Jones preffered basketball and football, and thought baseball was boring and meant for suburban kids, not him. Jones didn't even pick up a bat until he was 12. However, when he did, he flourished. Oftentimes having to commute out of San Diego to practice, and having to sell candy door to door to earn money, Jones was becoming a star.

When Jones transferred high schools, he met up with Mark McLemore, who became a great friend and mentor.

After Jones made it to the big leagues with the Mariners, he got traded to the Orioles for Erik Bedard. 50 games into the 2009 season, he was batting over .330 and slugging .575.

Since 2011, he's hit at least 25 home runs and driven in at least 85, while slugging at least .466 each season. He had a high of 33 homeruns and 108 RBI in 2013. His WAR has increased from a .8 in 2007 when he  broke in with the Mariners, to a 4.9 in 2014.

Couple that with the potential for double digit steals and excellent defense and a cannon for an arm, and you have all the makings of a franchise player.

A four-time All-Star, a four-time Gold Glove winner, a Silver Slugger winner, and perennial MVP candidate, Minnesota is going to lean on Jones until at least 2018, after locking him up with a No Trade Clause. Look for Jones to drive Minnesota as far as he can take them.
